Pokémon GO referral program: how to invite friends and get exclusive rewards

A referral program has launched in Pokémon GO after successful testing in Australia. Players can now invite their friends to experience the game for the first time or encourage others who haven’t played in a while to get back into the game.

Once your referred friends start playing the game, you will both earn exclusive referral program rewards. You can invite friends who have never played the game or those who haven't played the game in over 90 days.

Upon completion of special referral quests, both you and your referred friend will get special rewards, including Pokémon encounters, Incubators, Rare Candies, and more.

How to refer friends

The referral program uses special codes that your friends can use. To get your referral code head to the Friends screen. Share the code with a friend who’s new to Pokémon GO or someone who hasn’t played the game in at least 90 days.

Your friend can input your referral code either during the sign-up process or later on the Friends screen. Ensure that you remain friends in-game, so both of you can receive the special rewards. Make sure to help out your friend in achieving the milestones, so you can both receive all the rewards.

Once you’re in each other’s friend lists in-game, you will both have access to the list of Referral Quests and rewards.

Referral program rewards

The referral program awards both players with plenty of exciting and useful rewards. Once the referred player completes certain quests, both of the players will get different rewards.

Unfortunately, if you referred someone, you will not be able to see the progress your friend has made on the quests. However, you can check back to the dedicated Friend page to see if you have any rewards waiting to be collected.

Some of the quests are easier to complete, such as hatching 3 Eggs or making 2 new Friends. Others will require more dedication on your friend’s part, evolving 100 Pokémon, visiting PokéStops 30 days in a row, or reaching the Great Buddy status with a Pokémon.
